LearnItFirst.com Provides Software Users with Informative How-To Videos
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) June 10, 2008 -- With more than ten major software releases from Microsoft in the past eighteen months, companies and employees are finding it increasingly difficult and time consuming to keep skills current.
LearnItFirst.com (http://www.learnitfirst.com/default.aspx?an=prweb01), a startup video training company, offers a web-based approach to keeping up with new software. The company has built a network of websites that trains consumers how to use products such as SQL Server, C#, SharePoint, Visual Basic, Exchange Server, Windows Server, Reporting Services, and more.
The company refers to its training videos as "video books." As Scott Whigham, founder of LearnItFirst.com explained, they feature "the same type of content you'd find in a how-to book except that you have an expert instructor walking you through the screens and concepts."
The videos are available to access 24/7 online and are downloadable so they can be viewed on Macintoshes or PCs, or uploaded to a portable media device such as an iPod, Blackberry or MP3 player and viewed on-the-go. LearnItFirst.com subscriptions cost about the same as a "How to" book which makes the training affordable for individuals and companies.
Whigham continued, "It's the power of visual learning - you see the instructor do it, you hear the instructor explain the How/Why and you can even follow along on your own. Because you are interacting with the training, you retain more than just reading a boring old book. Video books work because of the combination of seeing something in action and being given an explanation for it. Humans tend to learn better when they engage both sides of their brains, and video books do just that."
LearnItFirst.com's video books are broken into easily-digested 10-minute chunks. Whigham said, "We like to target individual tasks with our videos. For a complex topic like SQL Server backup and recovery, we feature something like eight hours of training. We realize that people can't digest eight hours of video training in one sitting so we break it up into 10-minute videos and group related videos into different series. It helps people retain more and it lets them have a life!"
LearnItFirst introduces an entirely innovative product in the field of computer software. Like regular books, LearnItFirst.com's video books are affordable and portable, and similar to a "live" class, users get the most up-to-date information from an expert instructor. Video books take days to produce rather than the six month lead time associated with how-to paperback books, which often means users can find the information they are looking for on video books long before it becomes available at bookstores.
The LearnItFirst.com Video Training Network In an effort to allow users to find exactly the training they want, LearnItFirst.com has a network of 13 niche websites, each focused on training one specific topic. Each website features hours and hours of videos (a site like LearnWindows2003.com, for example, has nearly 40 hours of video) and other community features such as book recommendations, links to helpful sites, and some even have user forums. Here are just a few sites in the LearnItFirst.com Video Training Network: ? SQL Server training videos: LearnSqlServer.com (http://www.learnsqlserver.com/default.aspx?an=prweb01) ? SharePoint training videos:LearnSharePoint.com (http://www.learnsharepoint.com/default.aspx?an=prweb01) ? Exchange Server training videos: LearnExchange.com (http://www.learnexchange.com/default.aspx?an=prweb01) ? and many more are available at LearnItFirst.com (http://www.learnitfirst.com/default.aspx?an=prweb01)
